Security guard on duty to refill ATM cash dies in Varanasi

A 60-year-old security guard of a private company engaged in refilling cash at ATMs died allegedly due to cardiac arrest in Cantonment area of Varanasi, police said today.

Jitendra Singh had yesterday gone to collect cash of a private bank at its chest on Maqbool Alam road, where he suffered a severe heart ache and fell unconscious, they said.

Singh, a native of Ghazipur, was rushed to the government hospital where doctors declared him brought dead, they said.

The body has been sent for post mortem and further probe was on, police added.

  1. The security guard losing his life at the ATM is very sad. This shows the tediousness of the work of security guards and their strain and stress in maintaining the ATM machines day and night. The cause of his death must be investigated thoroughly
