Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be visiting Jammau on Friday to attend the centenary celebrations of late Congress stalwart Girdhari Lal Dogra.
As well as announcing the AIIMS for Jammu region, Modi is also expected to announce a development package of Rs 70,000 for Jammu and Kashmir.
Security has been beefed up in and around Zorawar Singh Auditorium in Jammu University.
Ramesh Kumar Angral, SP Security, Jammu said, “Taking into account the threat perception especially due to border firing, all arrangements as per blue book instructions have been put in place for the visit of Prime Minister. Wherever necessary, CCTV cameras have also been installed.”
SSP (in charge) Jammu Rajiv Panday told PTI, “Elaborate security arrangements have been kept in place ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s scheduled visit to Jammu. We have covered all the areas near the venue, the police and other security agencies have sanitised the area and personnel have been deployed on all the high-rise buildings in and around the venue.”
Organisers of this event said that the prime minister will be accompanied by finance minister Arun Jaitely and MoS in PMO, Dr. Jitendra Singh. Arun Jaitely is married to late Girdhari Lal Dogra’s daughter.
Contrary to earlier media reports that Modi would be in the valley for Eid, he will return to Delhi the same day.
