The BJP government has been struggling to supply water to the suffering residents.

News agency ANI on Tuesday reported on the areas of Latur reeling under serious drought.

One local resident said, “The day water tanker doesn’t come, we manage by borrowing water.”

Another resident said, “Tankers have to bring water from 20-20 kilometers away for this village. We store for drinking water.”

One woman said that the villagers were now being to forced to leave their village because of water crisis.

She said, “Khet mein nhi hai paani, ghar mein nhi hai paani, log gaon (village) chhod chhod kar ja rahe hain.”

Meanwhile, two Maharashtra ministers Eknath Khadse and Pankaja Munde visited the drought hit Latur district on Tuesday.

Khadse said, “We are in talks with the railway ministry and have requested them to help transport water to Latur. They’ve assured us of help. It’s a serious issue. We’re making all possible efforts so that water can be transported to Latur in 15 days.”
