The Supreme Court has issued notices to three lawyers, who assaulted the Jawaharlal Nehru University Students’ Union leader Kanhaiya, seeking response why contempt proceeding was not initiated against them.
The apex court also issued notices to Centre and Delhi Police on petition seeking SIT probe of Patiala House Court violence on 15 February, the day Kanhaiya was to be produced for hearing in sedition case.
Next hearing on the matter is on 4 March.
The Delhi Police had come under severe criticism for being a mute spectator while the goons posing as lawyers attacked journalists, students and CPI activist.
A Delhi court had sent Kanhaiya to one day police custody in the sedition case on Wednesday( 25 February).
There are reports that other JNU students, Umar Khalid and Anirban Bhattacharya, who surrendered before the police earlier this week, will be made to confront with Kanhaiya later today.
