AAP v/s Centre Row: SC asks Delhi HC to decide on MHA notification

SC has referred the matter to HC asking it to decide on MHA notification without being influenced by any observation. Arvind Kejriwal led government has already filed a petition in HC regarding the 21 May MHA notification.

SC was hearing a petition filed by the centre against the Delhi HC order on the powers of ACB and the latter’s observation on MHA notification that gave sweeping powers to Lt. Governor of Delhi

According to initial reports, the SC has also asked the to Delhi Government to be responded within three weeks on this matter.

AAP leader Ashutosh took to Twitter immediately after the SC verdict came out and tweeted the following

Senior advocate H.S. Phoolka also responded to the SC verdict by telling ANI, “Supreme Court has not granted stay on judgment but has only given notices. High Court is to decide without being influenced by observations in Para 66.”

Reacting to the court’s observations today, Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh said, “We are not interfering with Delhi Govt’s work but Constitution needs to be followed.”
