We’ve all know that Salman Khan has been the undisputed Sultan of Bollywood for many years. His films have often established a new bench-mark at the box office.
His fans can’t wait for the release of his home production Race 3, which is set to release this Eid. Meanwhile, the actor has also revealed his plans to revolutionise Bollywood fans’ movie viewing experience with the launch of Salman Talkies.
Speaking to Mumbai Mirror, the Bajrangi Bhaijaan actor said, “I had a lot of plans for the theatre chain but it’s taking me longer because I need to be very careful. There are a lot of logistical details involved so that the project doesn’t shut down. But let me clarify, the theatres will not be in Bandra or Juhu, but on the outskirts of Mumbai.”
Already an established producer, Salman has also turned distributor for Race 3 and Loveratri, a film which will see the former launch his brother-in-law Aayush Sharma.
The construction of first theatre under Salman Talkies series has already begun on the outskirts of Mumbai. The chain will have tickets at subsidised rates as they will all be tax-free. And if that’s not enough, the actor has also decided to offer free tickets to children from underprivileged backgrounds.
“Ticket rates should be brought down to Rs 200-250 for weekends and Rs 120-150 for weekdays, the way it is for regional films. With Hindi films, the numbers are higher but we need the footfalls too,” Salman was quoted as saying.
The news has already earned Salman plenty of plaudits from the Bollywood fans and experts alike. One fan on Twitter wrote, “Wohaa, @BeingSalmanKhan now ready to give his fans a boombastic surprise with his cinema chain. yes bhaijan talks to mumbai mirror and said “his plan to launch his cinema chain named #Salmantalkies. it’s gonna big gift for bhai fans.” Another user wrote, “Read an article saying ‘Salman Talkies’ is coming soon. In my opinion, the ticket prices may be on the lower side as I have observed with other movies of Salman’s movie ticket prices have been lower than that of his peers. His movies has always seen mass appeal.”
The news of Salman launching his theatre chain came on the day it was reported that the Bollywood megastar had received death threats an underworld don.
