All India Tennis Association on Saturday announced that Rohan Bopanna will partner with Leander Paes while leading the medal hopes for India in the men’s double event in Rio Olympics.
Bopanna had told the AITA that he would wish to have Saket Myneni as his partner.
Sania Mirza will partner Prarthana Thombare in women’s double category. Mirza will also be seen seeking a medal in the mixed double event, where she will be playing alongside Bopanna and not Paes, who she had opted as her preference.
Sania Mirza had told the All India Tennis Association that it preferred Leander Paes as her Mixed Doubles Partner for the Rio Olympics in August.
She had partnered Paes even in 2012 London Olympics.
“I have already spoken to AITA and conveyed my decision on the Olympic issue. They have a meeting on the 11th (June) and let’s wait for that,” Sania had told PTI.
