Earthquake measuring 3.4 on the Richter scale struck Uttar Pradesh’s Meerut at 6.30 am in on Monday morning with tremors being felt in Delhi and its adjoining areas of Noida and Gurgaon.

This was the second time within 24 hours that the residents of Delhi NCR felt the tremors. On Sunday afternoon, mild tremors were felt in Delhi NCR after a Magnitude 3.8 earthquake struck Haryana’s Jhajjar district.

The Indian Meteorological Department had said that the earthquake struck at about 4:37 pm on Sunday afternoon at a depth of 10 km.

There were no reports of casualties following either of the earthquake. However, the topic dominated the conversations on social media with supporters of the ruling BJP detecting a source of humour in it.

Earlier, an overwhelming majority of concerned Twitterati had taken to the microblogging site for informing each other about the tremors and to also inquire if everyone was safe.

In July this year, an earthquake measuring 4.0 earthquake had hit Haryana’s Sonipat.
