In a big relief to Bollywood superstar Salman Khan, the Rajasthan High Court on Monday stayed police investigation against him for allegedly making derogatory comments about Valmiki community.
Salman, while promoting Tiger Zinda Hai, had compared his dancing skills to that of bhangi, a member of a scheduled caste community. This had led to protests in Rajasthan, where members of Valmiki community disrupted the screening of the film.
Actor Shilpa Shetty too had made similar remarks using the term ‘bhangi.’ She had later tweeted an apology asking for forgiveness for inadvertently hurting the sentiments of Valmiki community.
Police complaints were filed in Mumbai, Jaipur and Delhi against Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif, who was present in the TV show, where the Tiger Zinda Hai had appeared to promote their film.
Salman is currently busy shooting his next film, Race 3, starring Jacqueline Fernandez, Daisy Shah, Bobby Deol, Anil Kapoor and Saqib Saleem. The film is scheduled to hit theatres in December this year.
