Ramdev has done it again. Throwing his weight behind the government of Narendra Modi over spiralling prices of pulses across the country, the controversial self-proclaimed Baba advised people to reduced its consumption.
One way to reduce it consumption and to beat the price rise, according to Ramdev, is to mix more water in daal to increase its quantity.
He said that criticising the prime minister over price rise in essential commodities particularly daal wasn’t good.
Addressing a crowd in Faridabad near Delhi at a Yoga function, Ramdev said that presence of more water in daal will not only reduce obesity but will also have good impact on health in the long run.
“This will also reduce the consumption of pulses in the country,” Ramdev said.
Ramdev’s support for the BJP and the RSS is not new. He had actively supported Modi during the Lok Sabha elections in 2014.
Curiously, he had slammed the previous UPA government on price rise, devaluation of rupees against dollar and black money. His critics now say that Ramdev has made spectacular U-turn on those issues alleging that he doesn’t see anything wrong on the issues he once passionately campaigned against.
Ramdev’s advice on daal is contradictory to his own statement made on price rise in December, when daal prices had crossed Rs 200 mark for the first time.
At a programme in Haryana’s Hisar then, Ramdev had said that people should stop eating daal because, according to him, too much protein caused joint pain.
