An old video of home minister Rajnath Singh has gone viral.
In this video, Singh looks clueless when asked if he considered Hafiz Saeed’s Jamat-ud-Dawa as a terrorist organisation.
A clueless Singh looks to his staff before unconvincingly answering in affirmative.
But when the reporter was quick to remind that his own ministry’s list of terror organisations had not included JuD as a terrorist outfit.
At this point, even more bewildered and by now embarrassed sheepishly smiled before uttering ‘achcha( really)?’
Singh had made this comments, while briefing the media on completion of Narendra Modi’s government’s one year in office.
The vide0 is now being shared widely on social media, particularly on twitter, where the users have begun to question his competency as the country’s home minister, who is in charge of internal security.
Rajnath Singh is increasingly becoming notorious for his embarrassing gaffes.
On Sunday, he made a sensational allegation that the protesting students on the JNU campus had the blessings of Hafiz Saeed. This was reportedly based on a tweet, posted using a parody account. When criticised and mocked, his ministry immediately issued a clarification stating that his remarks were based on ‘intelligence inputs.’
Not so long ago, Singh was in news for information the country that the anti-terrorist operation in Pathankot had successfully ended, when the officers deployed at the Air Force Base publicly contradicted his statement.
The operation continued for more than 48 hours after Singh’s statement.
