Megastar Rajinikanth’s name is once again in the news because of another election in Tamil Nadu. Soon after the date for assembly bypoll in RK Nagar constituency was announced, speculations dominated everyone’s conversation as to who the popular actor will support.
The rumour-mill went overboard after Venkat Prabhu, son of the BJP candidate from the constituency, Gangai Amaran, tweeted a photo of his dad with the actor.
He wrote, “Today our thalaivar @superstarrajini met and wished my dad for his political victory in #RKNagarByElection #happyson #GangaiAmaran (sic).”

Amaran is a good friend of Rajinikanth and had joined the BJP in 2014. The photo of the popular Tamil actor reportedly extending his support to the BJP candidate went viral causing more confusion over the actor’s political neutrality that he’s maintained up until now.
However, on Wednesday morning, the actor, chose to clear the air when he tweeted this, “My support is for no one in the coming elections.”
My support is for no one in the coming elections.

RK Nagar seat was vacated after the death of Jayalalithaa in December last year. Factions owining allegiance to Sasikala and Panneerselvam have fielded their candidates from here.
The BJP in last year’s assembly election had performed very badly with majority of its candidates losing their deposits.
