Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi on Wednesday intensified his attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi by accusing of being complicit in the phenomenal but mysterious growth in the wealth of BJP President Amit Shah’s son.
Addressing a rally in Phagwel in Gujarat, Gandhi said, “Modi had said that he did want to become the prime minister. He said he wanted to be the country’s watchman. You have a Gujarati, who knows the art of multiplying his wealth from Rs 50,000 to Rs 80 crore in just few months. But this prime minister doesn’t speak. He’s not the watchman but a partner (in mysterious growth of Jay Shah’s wealth).”
Gandhi also took swipe on Modi’s much-touted deadline of 2022 to complete all his projects.
“They have been in government for 22 years in Gujarat. And yet I heard Modi ji say the other day that he will eradicate poverty from the state by 2022. Let me give you his next line. Now Modi ji will say that by 2026, he will give a rocket each to every Gujarati to go to the moon. By 2028, he will say he will give a house each to every Gujarati on the moon. And by 2030, Modi ji will bring the moon to earth.”
Gujarat goes to polls in December this year. The BJP is fighting the anti-incumbency of 22 years while Congress has suddenly emerged as a potential force after the spectacular Rajya Sabha win for Ahmed Patel.
The party has been outsmarting the BJP on social media, a platform the BJP has dominated up until now. The Congress party’s campaign ‘Development gone crazy’ has forced to the saffron party to go on the back foot.
