Pune techie shoots wife, leaves baby with dead mother, gets caught while escaping

Following a fight over a domestic issue, 38-year-old IT professional Manoj Patidar allegedly shot his wife Dr Anjali Patidar (34) with a country-made pistol last night. Dr Patidar a gynacaelogist is said to have beeen shot on the forehead. The incident is said to have taken place at the victim’s clinic in Hinjwadi area, Pune.

Patidar, who works in an IT firm in Hinjawadi IT hub, hails from Madhya Pradesh. He had procurred the country-made pistol for Rs 20,000 a week ago,” Assistant Police Inspector, Wakad Police station, Mahendra Aher said. After the shooting he is said to have left his one and a half year old baby with the dead mother and fled. He was nabbed and arrested as he was trying to escape the city.

According to the PTI, this was the accused’s third marriage. “During his interrogation, we have come to know that his earlier two wives died in mysterious circumstances as he is claiming that they had allegedly committed suicide by falling off from building. However, foul play is suspected in earlier deaths,” Aher said.

The accused has been booked under section 302 (murder) of IPC and he will be produced in court today.

“We are also looking for a person from whom the accused had procured the arm a week back,” the police officer said.
