Priyanka Gandhi Vadra writes emotional post warning BJP of karma after Karnataka government loses trust vote

Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra on Tuesday poured her heart out in an emotional post warning the BJP of karma after the Karnataka government failed to win the trust vote.

Taking to Twitter, Priyanka wrote, “One day the BJP will discover that everything cannot be bought, everyone cannot be bullied and every lie is eventually exposed.”

Priyanka Gandhi Vadra’s subsequent tweet read, “Until then I suppose, the citizens of our country will have to endure their unbridled corruption, the systematic dismantling of institutions that protect the people’s interests and the weakening of a democracy that took decades of toil and sacrifice to build.”

Earlier Priyanka’s brother and Congress MP Rahul Gandhi had attacked the BJP without naming the saffron party for causing a democratically elected government to fall little over a year after the assembly elections.

Reacting to Gandhi’s tweet, the Karnataka unit of the BJP had written on Twitter, “again you don’t make any sense. May be it’s the effect of the “Slap of Democracy.” Your desperation to hold on to power has lost today. It’s a victory of Karnataka over your unholy alliance & greed for power. Democracy has won today & people’s mandate is restored.”

On Tuesday, weeks after 13 Congress and three JDS MLAs quit their parties, the ruling Congress-JDS lost the confidence in the assembly. The ruling party could win the support of only 99 MLAs, while the BJP received the support of 105 legislators.

The rebel MLAs left Bengaluru and shifted their base to Mumbai, where they’ve been camping since then. Congress troubleshooter DK Shivakumar travelled to Mumbai to meet the rebel MLAs, but he was prevented from meeting them by the Mumbai Police.

The matter had also reached the Supreme Court but the top court had refused to direct the Karnataka Speaker to accept the resignations of the rebel MLAs in a timebound manner.

The Congress had accused the BJP of engineering a split in the ruling alliance by alluring their MLAs. The party reminded how all the rebel MLAs were transported in a chartered flight owned by BJP’s Rajya Sabha MP Rajeev Chandrasekhar.
