Delhi’s Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia said on Friday that President Pranab Mukherjee will be taking classes in government schools on Teachers’ Day.
Addressing a press conference, Sisodia said, “The President of India will take class, as a teacher, for a one day as a mark of respect to the teachers in Delhi government schools. We celebrate Teacher’s Day in honour of a teacher (S. Radhakrishnan), who became the President of our country. This will be yet another milestone when the first citizen of India will interact with the students and teach them the lessons of life.”
Pranab Mukherjee has engaged with children on several occasions. In 2013, children had also tied Rakhi to him.
Sisodia said that he had met the President and he was very enthused with the idea.
He added, “We had a meeting with the President regarding this and he was so impressed with the idea that he immediately gave his consent too.”
Last year, in 2014, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had addressed school children on Teachers’ Day.
