After weeks of speculation, the master strategist Prashant Kishor, who was instrumental in securing two back-to-back election victories, first for Narendra Modi in 2014 and Nitish Kumar last year, has now confirmed that he will help Congress’ Capt Amrinder Singh in the next year’s assembly elections.

His group Indian Political Action Committee or I-PAC, told The Indian Express that the master political strategist would indeed run the election campaign for Punjab Congress president, Capt Amarinder Singh.

“A decision has been taken and Prashant will be strategising for Amarinder. It should be clear that he will be running the poll campaign for Amarinder and not for the Congress,” said a close source to Kishore.

He added, “In Punjab, it will be a battle between AK (Arvind Kejriwal) and PK (Prashant Kishor). AAP is no challenge for us. We will win this election.”

There are reports that Kishor would spend hundreds of hours in Punjab in the coming days. “Prashant does not do consulting. He just executes and he is excited to be there,” the source said.

This announcement with send some jitters in the AAP camp, which is eyeing at forming the government in the state next year. Kishor’s support for Singh will throw new challenge to AAP both on social media front and in how campaign’s narrative is woven between now and the elections.
