Police officer in Gujarat accuses SP of raping her, writes to state police chief and Chief Minister


In a shocking development in Gujarat, a woman police officer in Kutch East has accused her senior and Kutch East police superintendent Gautam Barot of raping her and even forcing her to abort.


As reported by Indian Express, the sub-inspector rank woman officer, submitted her four-page complaint, to the office of Director General of Police (DGP), P P Pandey on Friday.

According to reports, the victim officer has been posted in Kutch for last 18 months.

She said that even though Kutch East SP Gautam Barot had been harassing her for a long time, she did not complain since she was new in the force and was afraid of losing the job.

Barot, according to complaint, would send “improper” messages on WhatsApp while demanding sexual favours, but she refused.

The SP once allegedly called her to a hotel in Gandhidham on the pretext of work, but sexually assaulted her.

The woman officer stated that the incident had pushed her to depression prompting her to attempt suicide by taking overdose of sleeping pills.

But the accused SP sent one PSI Jadeja at her residence who took her to a hospital in Gandhidham. She was even referred to Ahmedabad for further treatment. After the suicide bid, the PSI alleges, the SP launched a campaign for her character assassination”.
