Congress party has slammed Prime Minister Narendra Modi for ‘abusing’ the national broadcaster ‘Doordarshan’ and ‘All India Radio’ through his monthly address Mann Ki Baat.
Congress spokesperson, Manish Tiwari said, “Misuse of All India Radio needs to stop. There is nothing in Prasar Bharati Act that allows PM to abuse AIR and Doordarshan. If PM is using the public broadcaster then this should be extended to the Opposition as well.”
Modi has been accused of misusing India’s national broadcaster to further his ‘political agenda.’ In October, his government had come under sharp attack for allowing the Doordarshan to broadcast the speech of RRS chief, Mohan Bhagwat, second year in a row.
Tiwari also demanded that Modi explain what transpired betweem him and his Pakistani counterpart during the recent Lahore trip.
He said, “PM must tell the nation what transpired between PM Modi and Nawaz Sharif. Lagta hai PM Modi ko Nobel Peace Prize ka machharr kaat gaya hai, Nawaz Sharif ji ko to kaata hi hua thaa.”
Elsewhere, another Congress spokesperson, Tom Vadakkan criticised Modi for exonerating his finance minister, Arun Jaitley, in the DDCA corruption without launching any inquiry.
He asked, “How can you clear Arun Jaitley without an inquiry?”
Jaitley is facing heat from both his suspended MP colleague, Kirti Azad, and leaders of Aaam Admi Party, who have accused of turning a blind eye to the rampant corruption in the Delhi cricket body during his time as its president.
