Party workers protest after bomb attack on BJP leader’s house


BJP  workers in Tamil Nadu have protested the attack on their leader by a petrol bomb in SivaGanga in Tamil Nadu on Tuesday. Police arrested around 42 members of BJP and Hindu Munnani for blocking the roads in protest of the incident.

CCTV footage showed two persons on a motorbike stopping in front of the house of H. Raja, the BJP’s National Secretary and throwing petrol bomb before fleeing from the spot. The door and some parts of the front portion of the house suffered heavy damage.

District Superintendent of Police M Durai visited the spot and called for an ‘on-the-spot’ investigation around midnight. DSP Muthamizh and Karaikudi North Inspector Pitchaipandian also visited the spot soon after the incident.

Raja has been receiving murder threats for last two years now. In 2013, two unidentified persons had entered Raja’s garden and threatened the security guards. Prior to this incident, an unknown person had also dropped a threatening letter warning that he would be murdered at his house. However, this time the SP is confident of nabbing the attackers.

Tamil Nadu has AIADMK led government with J Jayalalitha as the chief minister. BJP hasn’t had much presence in the state even though it’s been trying hard to gain foothold in the state.
