Maharashtra’s minister, Pankaja Munde, has embroiled herself in yet another controversy after she skipped an important cabinet meeting on Monday.
One of aides said that the minister had developed severe headache after being constantly exposed to blazing sun and heat in Latur.
“She has been suffering from headache since Sunday night because of her constant exposure to sun and heat during her visit to Latur. She even visited doctor for routine check-up. So she had to miss Monday’s cabinet meeting at 11,” Newspaper Jansatta quoted one of Munde’s friends.
Congress’ Sachin Sawant said, “Munde has simply highlighted the drought tourism of Fadnavis government. We saw how last week Eknath Khadse had splashed 10,000 litres of water for his helipad.”
Munde had courted controversy on Sunday after posting series of selfies from the drought-hit Latur, where she had visited to review the situation.
The story, first reported by jantakareporter.com, had caused unprecedented social media outrage with many even asking the Maharashtra chief minister to sack her.
While on a visit to Latur, Munde had also reportedly complained of her make-up being smudged due to heat.
Later, while defending her action, Munde had said that she was simply too excited to see water in one trench and could not stop herself from taking a selfie.
