J&K: Civilian killed in firing as India foils Pakistan army’s infiltration attempt

Indian forces stopped an infiltration attempt by Pakistani forces in the Kanachak sector of Jammu early Tuesday morning. The army is now retaliating with heavy firing after Pakistani forces targeted orward posts along the International Border in Arnia, Akhnoor and Sunderbani sectors of Jammu and Kashmir. One civilian is reported to have been killed due to exchange of fire.

Just last night, the Border Security Force had stopped another infiltration bid by two terrorists in the Kanachak sector.

This is now the second ceasefire violation by Pakistan in less than 48 hours.

It was reported that the Pakistani rangers used small arms and mortars once again. BSF personnel returned fire with equal force and intensity.

Pakistani troops had started unprovoked firing in four different sectors along the Line of Control (LoC) in J&K also on Sunday night, resulting in heavy exchange of fire.

The continuous ceasefire violations come only a few weeks after Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his Pakistani counterpart Nawaz Sharif met to discuss peace on the sidelines of the BRICS Summit in Ufa, Russia.
