Padmaavat’s first day collection is out and the film has done exceedingly well at the box office on the day of its release despite two states not releasing the film while its screening being disrupted due to violent protests elsewhere.
Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s period drama collected Rs 18 crore across India on its first day, reported Box Office India. According to the report, Padmaavat raked in Rs 7 crore in Mumbai, Delhi was here its collected the second highest amount with Rs 3 crore.

The film has Ranveer Singh, Deepika Padukone and Shahid Kapoor as protagonists with the main inspiration coming from Malik Muhammad Jayasi’s novel ‘Padmaavat,’ written in Awadhi language in the 16th century.
