Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra has slammed the central government for using its probe agencies to target former Finance Minister P Chidambaram in a case of financial corruption against INX Media.
Priyanka tweeted, “An extremely qualified and respected member of the Rajya Sabha, @PChidambaram_IN ji has served our nation with loyalty for decades including as Finance Minister & Home Minister. He unhesitatingly speaks truth to power and exposes the failures of this government.”
The Congress General Secretary continued, “But the truth is inconvenient to cowards so he is being shamefully hunted down. We stand by him and will continue to fight for the truth no matter what the consequences are.”

Priyanka’s reaction came after the CBI and the Enforcement Directorate personnel visited Chidambaram’s residence in Delhi and posted a notice asking him to appear before them within two hours of receiving the notice. The photos of CBI personnel visiting Chidambaram’s house went viral in no time. Chidambaram, who held both Home and Finance Ministry during the UPA government led by the then Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, was not at his house.
The CBI’s visit to his house seemingly to arrest him came hours after the Delhi High Court rejected his plea for anticipatory bail. Chidambaram has moved the Supreme Court seeking protection from an imminent arrest.
Chidambaram is accused of facilitating the huge flow of foreign funds in INX Media when he was the country’s finance minister at the instance of his son Karti Chidambaram. Karti is alleged to have received kickbacks in the case. Karti was arrested and sent to Tihar Jail earlier this year.
