Overwhelming majority say Supreme Court monitored agency should investigate Vyapam: Online poll

An overwhelming majority of people say that the only way to find the real culprits of Vyapam scam and those behind the trail of mysterious deaths is through a Supreme Court monitored investigation.

In an online poll by www.jantakareporter.com, 84 percent respondents said that the continuing deaths in Vyapam scam should only be investigated by a Supreme Court monitored agency. 14 percent favoured the CBI, while two percent showed faith in the Special Investigation Team.

On Monday, the Aam Aadmi Party leader Kumar Vishwas had moved Supreme Court requesting the apex court to intervene in order for the truth to come out and real guilty punished.

Our decision to launch this online poll was necessitated by the tragic death of the journalist Akshay Singh, who died in mysterious circumstances while on assignment to cover Vyapam scam in Madhya Pradesh. In response to our question that who our audience thought was responsible for Akshay’s death, 62 percent blamed the BJP ruled Madhya Pradesh government. 36 percent of those who took part in this poll blamed the corrupt system, while one percent felt it was a natural death. Another one percent decided not to commit and voted for ‘don’t know’ option.

However, when asked if they felt the people behind these suspected murders will ever be brought to justice, a whopping 75 percent answered in negative while 17 percent said they were confident.

The MP government had said that there was no foul in Akshay’s death. This was in line with how they’ve consistent stand on the deaths of all 48 people related to Vyapam scam. But, our poll told a completely different story.

95 percent respondents disagreed with the government’s stand while only 5 percent appeared to have agreed with them.

A total number of 695 people took part in this poll. This poll may not reflect the sentiments of people at large across India on Vyapam scam.
