The Ghaziabad Police has arrested five people in connection with the abduction of Snapdeal executive Dipti Sarna.
The police said on Monday that its investigation had led them to believe that a possible ‘stalker’ obsessed with the executive may be involved behind the abduction.
Quoting police sources, news agency ANI reported that Dipti was abducted because of a ‘one-sided’ love.
The police is expected to address a news conference at 1 PM o Monday to reveal more details of Dipti’s kidnapping and those accused.
The plotter of the entire incident, according to the police, was a man named Devender, who was enamoured by her. Devender, who was allegedly inspired by Shah Rukh Khan’s psychopath character in the movie Darr, also had a criminal record.
This, police said, explained why Dipti was unharmed even after spending nearly 30 hours with the kidnappers.
Dipti had told the police that she did not want to press charges against her abductors adding that they gave her food and took care of her.
Dipti’s abduction from a busy Ghaziabad area, which is so close the national capital Delhi, last week had sent social media into frenzy with Uttar Police coming under intense scrutiny.
