Police in Uttar Pradesh’s Noida said that they had charged a woman on Tuesday after she allegedly burnt the genitals of a 13-year-old boy with hot tongs because he resisted her sexual advances. The incident, according to reports, took place in Greater Noida’s Chapraula village near Delhi, India’s national capital.

The woman is reported to have gone missing since the report of her crime came to light. The minor boy’s mother said that the accused was her neighbour and often made sexual advances in the past. The police said that the accused was a married woman.

“The married woman, apparently in her late 20s, had lured the boy to her house in the afternoon last Friday when she was alone,” news agency PTI quoted a police officer as saying.

The boy’s parents had filed a case on Tuesday, prompting the cops to charge the woman under Indian Penal Code sections 323 (voluntarily causing hurt), 324 (causing hurt with a weapon), 342 (wrongful confinement), 363 (kidnapping), 506 (criminal intimidation). They have also booked her under the stringent Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.

Police officers investigating the crime said that they were looking at the case ‘from all angles’ adding that ‘the delay in approaching the police in the matter leaves several questions unanswered.’
