BJP MP from Patna, Shatrughan Sinha has described the Bihar chief minister, Nitish Kumar, as the most ‘respectable’ politician and human being after Jyoti Basu, the late former chief minister of Bengal.
Speaking to reporters after meeting Nitish in Patna, the actor-turned-politician said, “Aadarniye Jyoti Basu ke baad meri nazar mein Nitish Kumar ka vaiktitva aur qad sab se bada hai (Nitish Kumar is the most respectable politician and human being after Jyoti Basu). There’s no politician similar to his stature in today’s politics.”
Sinha said that one of the reasons behind the Grand Alliance’s historic win in Bihar elections was that there was no ‘anti-incumbency against Nitishji.’
He said, “There was no anti- incumbency against Nitish ji despite ruling Bihar for 10 years. People have recognised his good work as chief minister.”
When asked if the BJP considered him as its ‘shatru(enemy)’ the Patna MP said, “I don’t think the BJP considers me as its enemy.”
Sinha has been quite vocal in his criticism against the BJP leadership throughout the election campaign in Bihar accusing the party of ignoring him despite his experiences as MP and proven track record as minister in Vajpayee cabinet.
He had alleged that the party had given ministerial portfolios to people like Arun Jaitley and Smriti Irani despite both having lost Lok Sabha elections.
