Narendra Modi government is 'hell bent on protecting' corrupt, says his own MP Subramanian Swamy

BJP’s Rajya Sabha MP Subramanian Swamy on Wednesday launched a tirade against the Centre’s Narendra Modi government by accusing it of being ‘hell bent’ on protecting corrupt. This is the most blistering attack against the prime minister by one of his own MPs.
Subramanian Swamy
Soon after the sacked CBI Director Alok Verma moved the Supreme Court against Modi challenging his dismissal, Swamy tweeted calling the extraordinary development inside the country’s top probe agency as ‘massacre.’ He wrote, “The players in the CBI massacre are about to suspend ED’s Rajeshwar so that he cannot file the chargesheet against PC. If so I will have no reason to fight the corrupt since my govt is hell bent on protecting them. I shall then withdraw from all the corruption cases I have filed.”

In a midnight order, the Modi government had sacked Varma after he ordered filing of an FIR against his own deputy Asthana. This was after it emerged that he had accepted a bribe of Rs 2 crore for a favourable settlement of a case against meat exporter Moin Qureshi.
Meanwhile, the government has appointed M Nageswar Rao as the new interim chief, who replaces Verma. The government said that Rao will ‘look after duties and functions of director CBI and shall take over the duties and functions with immediate effect.’
CBI Dy SP Ajay Kumar Bassi, who was leading the investigation against Asthana, has been transferred to Andaman and Nicobar Islands with immediate effect. Asthana had moved the High Court against the FIR filed against CBI earlier this week. The court had later said that no action will be taken against Asthana until the next hearing.
The CBI had on Tuesday arrested Deputy Superintendent of Police Devender Kumar, who was accused of having recorded false statements to implicate CBI Chief Alok Verma at the behest of Asthana.
Swamy’s blistering attack against the Modi government comes hours after another BJP MP, Varun Gandhi, made a stunning revelation that he was called by the PMO, which asked him why he was increasing their ‘troubles.’
