Muzaffarnagar riots victim gangraped, accused absconding


In a gruesome incident of crime against woman, a riot victim, who was rehabilitated along with her family after the 2013 Muzaffarnagar riots, was allegedly gangraped by three youths at Ambeta village in the district.

Quoting circle officer N P Singh, PTI news on Sunday said that police had registered a case under various sections of IPC including 376 (d) (rape by one or more persons constituting a group) against one Zulfam, son of former Gram Pradhan Zaheer, and two unidentified youths who are absconding.

The police complaint lodged by the victim’s brother says that the 14-year-old girl had gone to the fields on Friday when she was picked up by three youth who allegedly gangraped her.

The girl was later found lying unconscious state.

The victim’s family also complained of being beaten up by the accused when they protested over the incident.

The girl has been sent for medical examination.

Her family was rehabilitated to Ambeta village from Baghpat district after the Muzaffarnagar riots in 2013.
