Mumbai Indians on Sunday beat Rising Pune Supergiant by one run to secure their third IPL title at Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad.
Batting first, Mumbai Indians had posted a total of 129/8 in their allotted 20 overs. In response, Pune fell short of just one run.
For Mumbai Indians, Krunal Pandya was the top scorer with 47 runs off 38 balls. Jaydev Unakdat, Adam Zampa and Dan Christian scalped two wickets each for Pune.
While chasing 129, skipper Steve Smith led from the front and scored 51 off 50 balls before falling to Mitchell Johnson. Ajinkya Rahane too played a decent knock of 44 runs off 38 balls, but they were not supported by other players and missed out on the coveted trophy just by one run.
