More than 50 lakh Biharis will send their DNA samples to PM Modi: Nitish Kumar

Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar on Monday said that more than 50 lakh people in Bihar will send their DNA samples to Prime Minister Narendra Modi after a signature campaign.

This was in response to Modi’s comments in Muzaffarpur last month questioning the DNA of Bihar’s CM.

Nitish Kumar tweeted saying that despite his repeated ‘pleas’ the PM had not retracted his ‘derogatory remarks on ‘our DNA.’

Repeating his earlier charge, Nitish said that PM Modi’s controversial comments on DNA was an insult to every Bihari.

He had written an open letter to Modi last week asking him to withdraw his words on DNA. BJP, for its part, had justified Modi’s comments saying ‘Nitish is not Bihar and Bihar is not Nitish.’

The Bihar CM said he will soon launch a massive signature campaign whereby 50 lakh people undergo DNA tests and send their results to Prime Minister.

Nitish Kumar appears determined to make DNA comment as a major poll issue. During Delhi elections, a newspaper ad questioning the gotra (caste) of Arvind Kejriwal had caused huge embarrassment for the BJP with Aam Aadmi Party calling it an insult of entire traders’ community, who usually voted for BJP.
