Raj Thackrey’s Maharashtra’s Navnirman Sena has said it will not allow the screening of Mahira Khan’s ‘Bin Roye’, a Pakistani movie scheduled to release worldwide on the occasion of Eidul Fitr this Friday.
This latest diktat from the MNS has come because the film is ‘Pakistani.’
MNS Chitrapat Sena chief Amey Khopkarn justifying the ban wrote a letter to B4U on July 10 saying, “The MNS will not allow Pakistani film in Maharashtra while our soldiers are being killed by Pak on border.”
Pakistan-based film distributor Nadeem Mandviwala , which distributes Bollywood films in Pakistan, posted about the ban on his Facebook account.
Mandviwala wrote, “I feel that the process which we have fought for allowing Indian Films in Pakistan legitimately is now being jeopardized by Indian States themselves. The repercussions of such acts can become detrimental for both film Industries. It’s a sad day today as Maharashtra State has given reason to start the debate once again which lasted for more than 40 years that is from 1965 to 2006.”
There are many Pakistani actors who are doing great business in Bollywood including Ali Zafar and Fawad Khan and India never banned any Pakistani movies before. Even though the Maharashtra government has so far not banned this movie officially, it’s unlikely the BJP’s government will step in to ensure the movie’s scheduled release. In the other Indian states, the movie is releasing on 18th July, this Friday.
