Miscreants deface posters depicting Amit Shah, PM Modi in Kanpur

Posters and banners depicting Prime Minister Narendra Modi and BJP President Amit Shah were found defaced at various places in Kanpur on Saturday. Shah is scheduled to hold a meeting with his party’s Uttar Pradesh state leaders there today.

“Unknown persons allegedly blackened one of the posters depicting the Prime Minister and several hoardings portraying the BJP President were defaced at Mall Road, VIP Road, Jajmau and other areas of the city,” said BJP’s city unit president Surendra Maithani.

People involved in the incident are yet to be identified while district administration and police have been informed about the matter, Maithani said. He added that new posters and hoardings had been placed in place of the defaced ones.

Shah’s meeting with state leaders and MLAs in the city is expected to focus on strategies for the 2017 Assembly election. The posters were placed to welcome the party president in Kanpur.

Over 500 people from BJP including leaders and workers are expected to attend the meet.
