Meteorite reason for Saturday’s explosion in Vellore’s college

On Saturday, mysterious explosion in  an engineering college in Vellore had one person and injured three others.

A day later, the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa said that a meteorite had fallen on the school.

She said, “A mishap occurred on Saturday when a meteorite fell in the campus of a private engineering college in Vellore district’s K Pantharappalli village.”

She announced an ex-gratia of Rs one lakh to his the deceased driver’s family and Rs 25,000 each to the three injured persons from the Chief Minister’s Public Relief Fund.

“I have ordered the Vellore district administration and hospital officials to provide them best treatment,” she was quoted by PTI.

Window panes of the college buses and several glass planes of the building were damaged when the meteorite fell.

Kamaraj lost his life after the ‘meteorite fell near him as he was walking past the building.’

It also created a small crater near the building complex.
