According to reports, a group of attackers had attempted to enter Shami’s house on Saturday night. Unable to do so, the assailants also beat up the security guard posted the cricketer’s house.

The altercation started after Shami’s car nearly hit a bike rider near his residence in Jadavpur area. Seeing the situation go out of hand, Shami had stepped out of the car to pacify the matter before leaving for his house.

However, the bike rider, reportedly a local barber, later arrived at Shami’s house with his friends to avenge the ‘insult’ meted out by the cricketer’s driver.

“He was waiting for the security guard to clear way for his car so that he could park it inside the complex. In the meantime, three youths who were on motorcycle started abusing the cricketer for taking too long to park his car inside the complex. They also tried to assault him, a police official said.
