In a stinging attack on BJP, Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi on Saturday called the saffron party ‘arrogant’ accusing it of shaming humanity by having a martyr’s daughter thrown out of a public meeting.

His tweet said, “BJP’s arrogance is at its peak. Patriot (Chief Minister Vijay) Rupani has shamed humanity by having a martyr’s daughter thrown out of his public meeting. The martyr’s family did not get justice for 15 years. All the family received were hollow promises and alienation. Today, this daughter was also insulted when she demanded justice. Have shame and give her justice.”

This was after the daughter of a martyred BSF jawan was taken away by woman police officials when she rushed towards Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani during a rally on 1 December.

26-year-old Rupal Tadvi, a tribal woman, was known to the local police as she had been protesting for the last several years, alleging that the government did not give a piece of land promised to her family after her father Ashok Tadvi, who she said, was with the BSF, was martyred, reported PTI.

On Friday, as Rupani addressed a rally, Rupal Tadvi, who was sitting in the audience, suddenly ran towards the stage, shouting, “I want to meet him..I want to meet him.”

Before she could go near the chief minister, woman police officials took her away. Rupani announced from the stage that “I will meet you after this programme”, but no meeting took place, officials said.

The video of the martyr’s daughter being mercilessly dragged by security forces has gone viral on social media platforms.
