Delhi BJP President Manoj Tiwari on Monday sensationally claimed that his party’s national president, Amit Shah was Lord Ram. He was responding to comments made by the leader of opposition in Uttar Pradesh assembly, Ram Goving Chaudhary, comparing Shah to Ravan, the demon mentioned in Hindu mythology, Ramayan.
Speaking to News18, Tiwari said, “Whosoever this Samajwadi Party leader may be, they are using such foul languages for Amit Shah in frustration. What would Ravan do? If even one person spoke against Ravan, he would have that individual picked up. Later, only his skeletons would be found.
“That was Ravan’s character. What was Ram’s character? Ram would hear even his critics. And if the need arose, he (Ram) would reach out to even his critics. Did Amit Shah have any action taken against the SP leader? Did he use any force against him? This means that Amit Shah is Ram.”
Chaudhary on Monday had caused a fresh political controversy by comparing Shah to Ravan saying that the demon was an intelligent man but his arrogance became the reason for his downfall. He said that the way the BJP was trying to control the constitutional posts such as the judiciary, executive and legislature, this was a great sign for the democracy.
On Monday, bypolls were held for four Lok Sabha seats including Kairana in Uttar Pradesh. The bypolls were marred by reports of EVM malfunctioning. The BJP candidate in Kairana was facing a united opposition and the result here will be the test case for 2019, when key non-BJP parties in the state plan to contest election as a united front.

Tiwari’s comments left social media users in splits. On Facebook, one user wrote, “Then he should file fresh case in Babri masjid issue and produce papers of his property!” Another user on Facebook wrote, “Amit shah is not even a Hindu , he is Jain.”
On Twitter, reactions have been intense and serious with users asking Tiwari to mind his language. One user wrote, ” Pls don’t insult Ram. There was no one , there can be no one as Ram. Pls mind your language, its beyond your limit to even imagine Ram Glory.”
