Madrasa teacher arrested for alleged sexual abuse of minor girl students in Kerala


A 55-year-old madrassa teacher was arrested near Mallapuram district in Kerala for allegedly sexually abusing minor girl students, PTI reported quoting police on Tuesday.


The teacher is identified as Abdurahiman Musliar and he taught at a madrasa in Puthuparamba near Kottakkal.

According to police, he was arrested under sections 9 and 10 of Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POSCO) Act, 2012 and section 23 of Juvenile Justice Act that is ‘Punishment for cruelty to juvenile or child.

Kottakkal police Sub-Inspector Manjith Lal said that the accused was produced before the Judicial First Class Magistrate court, which remanded him to 14 days judicial custody.

He was quoted by PTI as saying, “On getting information from district Childline authorities about a complaint from parents of seven girl children studying in fifth standard in the madrassa that they were allegedly being sexually exploited by the teacher for several months, we met their parents and recorded the statements of the girls, aged between 10 and 11.”

The action madrasa teacher was taken after parents lodged a complaint last week with the madrassa authorities, who immediately dismissed him from the job.

He was on the run for several days before being arrested on Tuesday.
