LV Revant was on Sunday declared the winner of the Indian Idol 2017. His name was announced by the cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar.
Punjab’s Khuda Baksh, whose story had moved the nation, was adjudged first runner-up.
Revant, who won Rs 25 lakh cash as prize money, said, “people always asked me why I was taking part in Indian Idol despite being a famous name as a playback singer in Tollywood. I always told them that I wanted to rock Bollywood. Indian Idol is like my girlfriend.”
Khuda Baksh, for his part, had come from Punjab’s Muktsar, where he lived a penury-stricken life. His father, also a singer, had died leaving him with the responsibility of his four sisters and mother to look after.
His mother worked as a domestic help in the vicinity.
Bollywood playback singer Sonu Nigam had made a comeback as one of the judges on this year’s “Indian Idol” after a gap of 10 years. Other two judges included choreographer Farah Khan and music director, Anu Malik.
The quality of each singer this year had impressed all music lovers.
