Mumbai Police on Thursday arrested the former Chief Operating Officer (COO) of the TV rating agency, Broadcast Audience Research Council, in the TRP scam case. The arrest of Romil Ramgarhia came just days after the Mumbai Police arrested Arnab Goswami’s CEO, Vikas Khanchandani in the same case. Khanchandani was granted bail by a Mumbai court three days after his arrest.
Ramgarhia, who served as the BARC CEO between 2014 and 2020, became the 14th person to be arrested in the TRP scam case. A report by news agency PTI said that he was formally placed under arrest in the afternoon by the Mumbai crime branch, which is probing the TRP case.
A court in Mumbai has sent him to police custody till 19 December.
There are reports that Goswami too could be arrested in the same case. The Republic TV founder was arrested on 4 December in an abetment to suicide case and ahd to spend seven days inside a jail in Navi Mumbai.
