Tributes have poured in for veteran Congress leader Ahmed Patel and prominent Shia leader Maulana Kalbe Sadiq after their tragic passing away. While Sadiq died on Tuesday, Patel passed away in the early hours of Wednesday.
Maulana Kalbe Sadiq was a prominent Shia scholar and All India Muslim Personal Law Board vice president Maulana. He was 83. Reacting to his death, Union Minister Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi tweeted, “Demise of prominent religious leader Maulana Kalbe Sadiq Sahab is painful, unfortunate and an irreparable loss. Maulana Kalbe Sadiq Sahab was a strong voice of communal harmony, brotherhood, human values. RIP.”
Hours after Maulana Sadiq’s death, the news of Patel’s passing away was shared by his son Faisal. Reacting to the death of 71-year-old Ahmed Patel, Congress President Sonia Gandhi said, “In Sh. Ahmed Patel, I have lost a colleague, whose entire life was dedicated to the Congress Party. His faithfulness and dedication, his commitment to his duty, his always being there to help, his generosity were rare qualities that distinguished him from others.
“I have lost an irreplaceable comrade, a faithful colleague and a friend. I mourn his passing and I feel deeply for his bereaved family to whom I offer my sincere feelings of empathy and support.”
