India Meteorological Department has said that Cyclone Nivar made landfall near Puducherry in the early hours of Thursday before weakening into a severe cyclonic storm. The landfall caused heavy rains in both Tamil Nadu and Puducherry. The IMD said that while the intensity of the rainfall would weaken gradually, rains are likely to continue in both Tamil Nadu and Puducherry.
There have been no reports of loss of life even though incidents of wall collapse and uprooting of trees have been reported from some parts of Tamil Nadu.
THE VERY INTENSE CONVECTION OVER PUDUCHERRY IS WEAKINING GRADUALLY. HENCE THE INTENSITY OF RAINFALL WOULD DECREASE GRADUALLY.
THOUGH RAINFALL WILL CONTINUE.
