His decision to address the nation came hours after the cabinet meeting was called by him. The Cabinet Committee on Security too had met on Wednesday morning. Although his tweet said that his address to the nation will take place between 11.45 and 12 noon, there was delay in his announcement.
The last time he had made similar address to the nation at a short notice was on 8 November, when he made the demonetisation announcement.
Here are the key highlights of his address.
- ‘Mission Shakti’ operation was a difficult target to achieve which was completed successfully within three minutes of launch.
- India has entered its name as an elite space power. An anti-satellite weapon A-SAT, successfully targeted a live satellite on a low earth orbit.
