AAP leader Jitender Singh Tomar, who had to quit as Delhi Law Minister after being arrested on charges of fake degrees, proved today that he had passed law examination in 1998.

The officials present with the leader when he was brought to Biswanath Law College in Munger, Bihar, where he claims to have studied laws, stated that college records showed that he had enrolled in the college in 1994-95 and passed his law examination in 1998-99.

Tomar took his law exams in 1994-95 and 1995-96 academic sessions but did not appear for the 1996-97 exam. He then took the test again in 1998-99 and cleared it, the officials said.

The interrogation is believed to have lasted over three hours, also revealed that the local residence information provided by Tomar to the college authorities (an address of house at Agrahan village) was found to be false after locals could not corroborate his claims.

Police officials later escorted Tomar to Tilka Manjhi Bhagalpur University, to which the law college is affiliated.
On the other hand, student activists of AISA, Rashtriya Lok Samata Party and LJP threw tomatoes and eggs at the leader. Some AAP workers also assembled outside the college gate and chanted slogans against BJP for ‘targeting’ their party, adding to the din.

The 49-year-old MLA from Delhi’s Trinagar constituency and a first-time minister was forced to quit his position as Delhi’s law minister over charges of forging his degrees. Tomar was remanded in four-day police custody by a Delhi court on Tuesday.

Tomar, who claimed to have secured a BSc degree from KS Saket PG College and RML Avadh University in Faizabad, failed to locate his classroom, physics laboratory and the washroom. The police said it was further proof that he had forged his degree.
