Aam Aadmi Party leader Kumar Vishwas has hit out at Delhi Police and the central government for constantly running a dirty campaign against Arvind Kejriwal government over the last one year.
Speaking exclusively to jantakareporter.com, the senior AAP leader said, “Delhi police has had just one mission in the last one year and that is to keep harassing us by frequently filing false cases against our leaders and MLAs, only to defame our image. The sole idea behind this harassment has been to divert our attention from fulfilling the commitment we had made to the people of Delhi.
“Testament to this is my own example how the BJP leaders including its Delhi president Satish Upaddhyay went and created ruckus outside the house of our chief minister. Upaddhyaya and Congress’ Barkha Shukla Singh (former DCW chief) even sat at Jantar Mantar with the girl who had made false allegations against me.”
Vishwas reminded how the former DCW chief had to admit before the court that the complaint against me was false.
“Police also tried its best to harass me, but it too had to eat humble pie and submit before the court that no case could be made out against me,” he said.
The AAP leader slammed Delhi police for not learning any lesson from repeated embarrassment faced as a result of filing trumped-up charges and being chided by even judiciary.
He said, “Delhi police was chided by the court in the arrest of our MLA, Akhilesh Tripathi and they had to withdraw their cases. And yet Delhi police has not learnt its lesson and have returned to its age-old tricks. Now they’ve dug out an old case of Gajendra Singh’s suicide to launche their dirty campaign against us.
“They called me, Sanjay Singh and other AAP leaders to grill us like terrorists for two-two hours. The kind of questions they asked us are ‘what time did you go to Jantar Mantar? What did you eat etc etc?'”
Vishwas said that he and his colleagues in the party had always ‘respected the confidentiality attached to the investigation’ adding that the city cops had leaked the details of questioned asked to Sanjay Singh to a newspaper.
He said it was a very serious crime committed by Delhi police.
He said, “We always respected the confidentiality of the investigations and stayed away from making any statements on the ongoing probe (related to Ganjendra Singh’s death). But, Delhi police on Thursday leaked the questions it asked Sanjay to a newspaper.
“Leaking of investigation is a serious crime. Rest assured, they won’t get anything even here, but they are determined to create a negative atmosphere just when we are completing one year in power to take the attention away from what would be a real shining moment for us and the people of Delhi.”
He asked both Delhi police and the central government to ‘stop the politics of vendetta immediately ‘because they will have to face embarrassment even here like they had to in the past.’
“(On Gajendra Singh’s death probe) They gave us the notice in the night and asked us to appear the next morning. if this is not harassment then what is? They sent police to my house on my birthday.
“If they really want any competition, then I suggest the centre should organise a competitive public debate on the performance of Modi ji’s two years in government against our one year in power. They can select the platform of their choice.”
Vishwas congratulated chief minister Arvind Kejriwal and other functionaries of Delhi government along with his party workers for completing one year in office.
He said, “In the last 12 months, we’ve set an example of good governance. The party thanks chief minister, deputy CM, all MLAs and workers for their splendid works. The party is extremely proud of how the government fulfilled its election promises and are still working hard towards fulfilling the remaining commitments.”
