Kerala Tourism Ministry has launched an interesting online bidding game aimed at boosting the domestic tourism in the state, known as the God’s Own Country.
Billed as VisitKerala BidWars, those who bid the lowest or whose bids are unique will be awarded the package, which will range between Rs 8000 and Rs 78000.
For example if a package cost is priced at Rs 10,000 and the lowest bid is at Rs 10, the person will win the package unless somebody else’s bid is lower than that or has more interesting. In the event the two people have bid the same price, the bids will stand cancelled.
Kerala Tourism ministry’s secretary, G Kamala Vardhana Rao, “Kerala Tourism enjoys round-the-year engagement with our huge fan base across the world. This bidding process is a unique way to acknowledge the bond with each other. It will also help us continue our association with our fans by providing an opportunity to gain first-hand experience of being in the place they love.”
Facebook will play a key role in facilitating this unique bid wars. Kerala Tourism, which has more than 1.2 million fans on Facebook, has used social media platform promote the state’s tourist destinations even in the past.
Kerala Tourism Director P I Sheik Pareeth said, “The opportunity for our fans to spend a peaceful day on a houseboat in the famed backwaters or stroll in the picturesque tea hills of Munnar will go a long way in consolidating our association with them. The online bidding not only carries forward the conversation with our fans, but also takes it to the next level.”
The department has also launched separate mobile Apps for conducting this bidding process.
