‘Kejriwal sir, jawab do’: BJP comes up with its own posters in Delhi

The Delhi section of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has countered the Aam Aadmi Party’s “Prime Minister Sir” posters with posters of its own.

“Kejriwal sir, jawab do (please answer),” the poster reads and asks the Delhi government why it has spent Rs 526 crores in advertisements when the same could have been used in some other purposes.

Signed Kuljeet Singh Chahal, a vice president of the Delhi BJP, the poster directly lifts from the theme of advertisements Kejriwal’s government put out all over Delhi last week.

In the poster, Delhi’s BJP argues that the Rs 526 crores spent by Kejriwal government in ads could have been used to install 5 lakh CCTV cameras for security of women, for opening 200 new schools and 50 new colleges, for launching 2000 new buses and providing water to 1000 colonies, or giving pension to 5 lakh families for 1 year, along with also promising employment to 1 lakh young people.

Last week AAP government’s posters had targeted Prime Minister Narendra Modi with the copy, “Prime Minister Sir, Please, let Delhi government work. Delhi government is working fine,”

The posters were in tune with Kejriwal’s allegations that the BJP-led Centre was using Delhi’s Lieutenant Governor Najeeb Jung to create impediments in the functioning of his government at the behest of the PM.

In other ads, the Delhi government had also attacked the Delhi police and PM Modi over the brutal murder of a 19-year-old in the national capital.

Earlier this week, the AAP government withdrew the controversial posters as a mark of respect to late former President APJ Abdul Kalam, installing new posters saluting the ‘Missile Man of India’ for his contributions to the country.

The Delhi High Court had also recently censured the Kejriwal-led government asking it to explain the total amount of money spent in the ads, while saying it was a waste of taxpayers’ money.
