A Kashmiri youth in his 20s died on Sunday after being hit by pellets allegedly fired by CRPF, whose personnel were targeted by stone-pelters in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district.
Owais Ahmad was taken to a nearby hospital before being shifted to Shri Maharaja Hari Singh hospital in Srinagar, reported Hindustan Times.
Accoding to local residents of Kakapora, CRPF jawans fired tear gas shells and pellets after a group of youth pelted stones at them.
“The pellets penetrated deep into the chest of the young man,” a local resident of Pulwama was quoted as saying.
According to a report by The Hindu, a CRPF patrol was coming from volatile Shopian when they came under stone pelting at Kakapora.
Locals alleged the security forces fired from pellet shotguns to disperse protesters, injuring Dar seriously. “Dar was hit in right side of the chest. He was declared dead in a Srinagar hospital,” said sources.
