Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday said that Karnataka needed a BJP government, which was sensitive to farmers’ issues. Interacting with the Karnataka Kisan Morcha through his ‘Narendra Modi App’, he sought to highlight several initiatives undertaken by his government adding that the ‘efforts made by the Centre were benefiting the farmers at large scale.’
PM Modi said that his government’s Fasal Bima Yojana effectively benefit the ‘farmers in a big way.’ He alleged that due to the apathy of the Congress government in Karnataka, farmers could not benefit from the Fasal Bima Yojana. He added that a sensitive government, which worked for the development of farmers, was needed in Karnataka.
“The Congress Government in Karnataka has completely ignored the state’s agriculture sector. They have been insensitive towards the aspirations of the farmers. The farmers of Karnataka deserve better,” PM Modi added.
He also took to Twitter to inform the keys issues addressed by him during his interaction with the members of Karnataka Kisan Morcha.
“Talked at length about the Fasal Bima Yojana & the Government’s ‘Beej Se Bazar Tak’ formula which is instrumental in bringing a positive change in the lives of our hardworking farmers. Appealed to my farmer sisters and brothers to embrace latest technology and best practises in agriculture. Also urged farmers to take-up micro-irrigation,” he tweeted.
He also added, “This year’s Union Budget had several farmer-friendly measures that would facilitate value addition and strengthen the supply chain. These steps are in line with our commitment to double farmer incomes by 2022.”
Modi was in Karnataka on Tuesday, when he addressed several election rallies. During his visit to the poll-bound state, he had also launched a blistering attack on Congress President Rahul Gandhi accepting his 15-minute challenge.
Karnataka goes to polls on 12 May, while the counting will take place on 15 May.
